This sophomore-year series was my first attempt to explore the boundary between clothing and the body. Having never been sensitive to fashion or trends, I approached garment-making by questioning whether design must rely on complex structure. I experimented with integrating elements inspired by animals and the human body—such as hair and tumor-like forms—to express this uncertainty. Influenced by Jan Švankmajer’s tactile experiments on material temperature, I began to imagine how similar sensory ideas could be translated into clothing, an object that constantly touches the skin.
